Hi, I’m Olivier!
We’re sorry to have kept you waiting. We needed a minute to recover from the awesomeness that has been Silicon Valley Week and Global Demo Day.
San Francisco, roll out the red carpet; our champions are coming.
The hugely anticipated 22 startup finalists who started out as part of our 35-team, 2015 HACKcelerator batch have finally been selected. And they’re gearing up to show you how they’ve been disrupting their industries at our 4th Annual Global Demo Day.
Dating apps are hot right now (Just a little bit of a pun intended). With 10 million users on Tinder every single day and a bunch of competitors, everyone seems to be doing their part to help single people meet The One™. Including one of the most exciting teams participating in our HACKcelerator, Blink, based out of Austin, Texas and the winner of our AH8 Austin Hackathon. I sat down with them to find out what they’re up to.
Over the last few weeks we’ve been telling you about the much-anticipated kick off of our 2015 HACKcelerator. Well, as of this past Monday, our teams have officially entered FULL grind mode and have been working hard to get a headstart on the game. And today, ladies and gentlemen, we'd like to officially introduce our 2015 HACKcelerator batch to you.
It’s been more or less five years since hackathons truly hacked their way into the mainstream. Today, you can guarantee that on any given weekend, there is a group of hackers of all ages and backgrounds who are sitting behind screens and working on the next big thing. All while munching on some Frito Lay and downing some redbull. Sadly, only a handful of the thousands of “next big things” that are brought to life weekly ever make it out of these hackathons.
The majority of these innovative projects get lost in the sea of hacks, whether by choice or simply because the right people were not at the hackathon to recognize the project and its team’s potential.
*Queue dramatic music*
This was it - the biggest event of the year, the night that our top hacker teams from around the world had been waiting for. They’d triumphed at an AngelHack hackathon, they’d gone through the HACKcelerator program, and now, they stood in front of an auditorium packed with investors, media, and mentors. It was the moment of truth: Global Demo Day.
Are you ready for the biggest, baddest, most awesomest demo day of the year?! Yes, Global Demo Day is coming back on October 30th, at the University of San Francisco's Presentation Theatre. This year marks our fourth batch, and we’re going bigger than ever with over 100 investors, recruiters, and our panel of celebrity judges.
“Beauty is empowering.”
This is the mantra that Priya Dandawate, Monica Czarny, and Danny Pham - winners of 2014’s AngelHack Seattle - live by. The three wanted to empower the customer through a highly personalized and convenient beauty experience, so they created an intelligent online platform called Vera.
