Hackers from across India convened last month at The Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) Hack the World hackathon In Bangalore, powered by AngelHack. The event took place at the brand new AB InBev Growth Analytics Center (GAC), where 115 hackers created 26 projects, taking on the challenge of using the images and data provided to creates solutions for AB InBev to gain better insights into the effectiveness of their investment toward driving sales.

On September 24, 2016 AngelHack’s Director of Social Innovation, Rachel Katz had the opportunity to participate as one of the panel members at The Tech Museum in San Jose for the hackathon, “Hack Homelessness.” The teams participating had to think critically and build something in the span of a few short days all with a singular mission in mind: create innovative projects that fight homelessness.

AngelHack's First Hackathon in Africa Builds Tech for a Smarter Nairobi

AngelHack’s very first hackathon in Africa was all the things. It was 124 hackers (20% of them women) building 37 projects to solve real problems in their city. It was sunglasses, t-shirts, donuts, pizza and morning/afternoon tea times. It was part of Nairobi Tech Week, where hundreds of developers networked with professional developers and tech leaders and learned new skills with students from Moringa School and Strathmore University.
